About This Course

Each graduate will gain a complete understanding of the design theory, nomenclature, dynamics, compatibility, interchangeability, detailed dis-assembly, assembly, maintenance and trouble-shooting of the M-16/AR-15 family of weapons including rifles, carbines, and sub-machine guns.

    • Brief history, design, nomenclature, variants, features and controls
    • Field dis-assembly, reassembly and function check
    • Theory and cycle of operation
    • Complete and detailed dis-assembly, parts identification
    • Reassembly and inspection
    • Day Two

    • Complete and detailed dis-assembly
    • Removal and installation of barrel and front sight assembly
    • Design changes and parts interchangeability
    • Reassembly and inspection
    • Head-space, firing pin protrusion, gas tube alignment inspections
    • Fire control theory, design and unauthorized modifications
    • Day Three

    • Maintenance and trouble shooting
    • Application of specific models
    • Rifle dis-assembly
    • Rifle reassembly and inspection
    • Written Test
    • Test-Dis-assembly of Rifle
    • Test-Reassembly of Rifle
    • Instructor/course evaluation
  • Gear
    • Colt will provide all necessary tools and firearms to conduct training and each graduate will receive a new (CM118) Armorer Manual.
