About This Course

This 5-day course builds upon the tactical foundation of taught in the ACADEMI SWAT I course. The first day starts with a basic building clearing and firearms fundamentals review, including a pistol and long-gun qualification course. The remainder of the course uses a mixture classroom and practical instruction to develop advanced techniques for building clearing and other tactical scenarios. Students use these techniques in challenging, practical situations to increase their skills, knowledge and competence enabling them to plan and execute warrant services and hostage rescue.

  • This course is open to all officers who conduct warrant service, fugitive apprehension, SWAT operations and drug search warrants who have completed an appropriate level 1 equivalent and are in need of advanced tactics and techniques to conduct special weapons and tactics operations efficiently and safely.

      Due to the nature of the course, SWAT II is 20% classroom, 80% practical application

    • Gear
      • Duty gear worn
      • Duty pistol
      • Minimum three pistol magazines (single-stack .45, minimum five magazines)
      • Duty carbine with sling, iron sights and/or optics (minimum three magazines)
      • Armor carrier/load-bearing vest
      • Magazine holders (pistol and carbine)
      • Flashlight (weapon mounted and detached preferred, detached ok)
      • Entry gear
      • Clear wraparound ballistic eye protection
      • Ear protection
      • Firearm cleaning kit
      • Appropriate range attire for climate and conditions
      • A water bottle or other hydration system
    • Ammunition requirements
      • 400 rounds of standard handgun ammunition
      • 300 rounds of carbine ammunition for carbine
      • 100 rounds frangible ammunition for carbine
      • *Frangible ammunition is only needed if shooting rifle cartridge as primary weapon (e.g., .223 caliber) for live-fire in the shoot house. For those using handgun based cartridge weapons as a primary the ammunition count is 800 rounds total.
